Perfect Love

Is there such thing as Perfect Love? In Christ, who came and died on the cross for our sins, there is. He set an example for us, when he did that; showing the definition of a Perfect Love. (For he is perfect in every way, thus his love is perfect.)
"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her."   -Ephesians 5:25
We are humans {created by God}, we have a sinful nature and we will never reach perfect (we won't even come close to it). But that doesn't mean that we shouldn't strive for perfection, God set an example for us for a purpose. Look at theses verses, and look at the results of love:
"Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law." -Romans 13: 10
"Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins." -1 Peter 4:8
"There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love because He first loved us." -1 John 4:18-19
"Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." -John 15:13
That is powerful love that drives out fear, covers a multitude of sins, does no harm to its neighbor, and even lays down his life for a friends. (As God did for us)

Throughout the Bible God repeatedly tells us to put on love, for it is the greatest of virtues:
"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love." -Ephesians 4:2
"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." -1 Corinthians 13:13
"...And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity." -Colossians 3:14
He also points out that love must be sincere, and that love comes from God:
"Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." -1 John 4:8
"Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good." - Romans 12:9
So keep in mind that in all things, do it in love. And as you spend time with your friends and family this Valentine's day (or even your 'One True Love') remember that that love originated from God. Like God, the depth of love is incomprehensible:
"Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails..." 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a
Happy Valentine's Day!!

"Let me not to the marriage of true minds

Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no; it is an ever-fixed mark,
That looks on tempests, and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come;
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
   If this be error and upon me proved,
   I never writ, nor no man ever loved."
-Sonnet 116 {Shakespeare}
